ANADIA CYCLING CENTRE

The High Performance Centre of Anadia – Anadia Cycling Centre is the only Satellite Centre in Europe of the Cycling World Centre.

The Anadia Cycling Centre began to take shape with the opening of the National Velodrome in 2009. Since then, other facilities have been built, creating conditions for training camps, training sessions, and competitions of different olympic cycling disciplines.

PISTAS E PERCURSOS

The Velodrome is the flagship of this sports complex, with a wood track of 250 meters long. It has hosted several international events, including five editions of the Junior and Sub-23 European Championship. Several cycling and para-cycling national teams come here for their training camps as preparation for the great international competitions.

In 2009, two other permanent tracks were added to the Anadia Cycling Centre: one for Olympic Cross Country (XCO) and another for BMX Racing, with two ramps, one of them with olympic features.

The BMX track is the only track with olympic features in the whole Iberian Peninsula. Allowing quality and safe training, the XCO track has a 3.6 km perimeter and about 100 meters of cumulative elevation gain.

Situated in the centre of Portugal and easily accessible from both international airports of Lisbon and Porto, Anadia is also a region with unique conditions for road cycling training. Around the municipality there are roads with little traffic, ideal for training in flat terrain and in average size mountains. The Natural Park of Serra da Estrela is located at about 100 km, with mountain roads allowing pedalling up to two thousands meters high.

SPECIALIZED SUPPORT

The training camps in Anadia Cycling Centre may include, by prior request, the support of cycling coaches from the Portuguese Cycling Federation and support from the clinical department, composed of a physician, a nutritionist, and a psychologist.
